It comprises independent members with diverse expertise in science, agriculture, development practice, and enterprise, along with senior organisational leadership, including the Executive Director, ensuring strong governance, accountability, and continuity.

Prof. S. P. Singh

President

Prof. S. P. Singh is among India’s most distinguished Himalayan ecologists, with nearly five decades of leadership in forest ecology, ecosystem services, and mountain sustainability. His research spans scales from leaf-level processes to highly fragile, disaster-prone Himalayan landscapes, shaping contemporary understanding of how mountain forests function under environmental change.

A former Vice Chancellor of Garhwal University and Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), Prof. S. P. Singh has made seminal contributions to Himalayan forest science, including carbon sequestration, ecosystem services, and climate resilience. Through his scholarship and policy engagement, he has emerged as a leading voice on carbon justice, advocating climate actions that recognise historical emissions, protect mountain ecosystems, and ensure fair compensation and livelihood security for the communities who steward Himalayan forests.

Ms. Neha Chaturvedi is a development professional with around 20 years of experience in rural development and disaster risk management. She brings expertise in programme design, implementation, and multi-stakeholder coordination to strengthen CBED’s community-centred initiatives

Mr. Puran Bartwal is a development expert with approximately 40 years of experience in community-based and ecological development initiatives. He plays a key role in organisational coordination, programme oversight, and institutional strengthening at CBED.

Mr. Sanjay Gupta is a businessman with over 30 years of experience in commerce and financial management. As Treasurer, he oversees financial governance, accountability, and compliance to ensure CBED’s long-term financial sustainability.

Dr. Anil Kumar Srivastav is a senior agricultural scientist and former Director of VPKAS, Almora, with nearly 40 years of experience in mountain agriculture research. His expertise supports CBED’s work on sustainable farming systems and agro-ecological resilience.

Mr. Rajesh Kumar is a development professional with a background in agricultural engineering and over 35 years of experience in rural and natural resource-based development. His work focuses on applying technical solutions to enhance sustainable livelihoods.

Executive Director

Mr. Anil Tyagi holds a post-graduate degree in Commerce and has over 25 years of experience in the development sector. He specialises in rural livelihoods, cooperative management, financial management, microfinance, and enterprise development, with a strong focus on building sustainable and community-led economic systems.

As the Executive Director of the Centre for Business and Entrepreneurial Development (CBED), Mr. Tyagi provides overall leadership to the organisation, overseeing strategic planning, programme implementation, and institutional development. He coordinates financial management, monitoring, and compliance, ensuring transparency, accountability, and effective use of resources across projects, while working closely with communities, partner organisations, and stakeholders to promote inclusive and locally grounded development outcomes.
